[Public-List] rigging asym

I have a moveable bow sprit combined with a selden furler. My aspin is
a doyle UPS sail. Works like a dream. I furl rather than gybe - easier
and less chance of damaging the sail. The set up was worth every penny
I paid for it. It works well and can be single handed.

Wes and Michael,
I would not do outside jibes. You run a high risk of running over the
lazy sheet. A much worse result than dragging the sail thru the
triangle .
One way to create more room is to ease the tackline 5ft.Before the
jibe.
Much safer.

first time I tried it I accidentally did an "inside" jibe, stuffing it
just ahead of the rolled up jib. With a little more breeze, an
"outside" works OK. You need to have very long sheets for the
"outside" as the clew needs to "flap out in front like a flag" then
you turn and haul in the new active sheet.

as the A30. I saw some carbon sprit (csprit?) that can be folded up
and would imho look better, but this stuff is not cheap! I was
thinking about (at some point) having a stainless steel sprit made
that fits on the bow.

necessary at all, since people fly assymetricals

receive a reply after you send me helpful suggestions for replacing my
rigging, please let me know. I am going to actually do it later in
September, right in time for the lighter fall and winter winds :)
