Jonathan,

Regardless of the age of the paint, mold will always appear inside a boat.
It's a moist dark environment. Buy some Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, they are
so effective and removing mold and keeping it away, that it only takes a
few minutes in the spring and fall to keep this problem in check. You can
use it on wood too, you'll be amazed.
