The teak strips were attached with bondo. It is very hard and rigid. When
the boat crashes through the waves the hull flexes, and the teak strips
break their bond to the hull leaving a glob of bondo on the hull. Reattach
the strips in the exact same place, no need to remove the glob of bondo,
and use 3M5200 to make the attachment. It has enough flex and holding power
that they will not break loose again.
P.S. get rid of that ugly pedboard!

smell, you would probably need the aromatic stuff. The stain and oïl on
the forward facing side of the cedar and the paint smell in the cabin
likely overwhelmed any hint of cedar. But, it's easy to work with, I got a
couple of nice clear cedar decking 2X4s which I ripped into 3/8 strips and
sanded and voila ceiling! That CLC stuff would do the trick as well! I
coat all cabinetry with lemon oïl in the spring before launch, that smells
nice for about a week.

Maurice the cedar strips sound good and my wife approves "I love the smell
of cedar!".
Looks like Chesapeake Light Craft and other places offer Western Red Cedar
3/4" by 1/4"
by 6' to 8' at $38.00 for 80 linear feet. Huge difference vs the price of
teak. And CLC is local.
Keep the ideas coming!

Forget to mention, I did exactly what you intend to do for the pegboard
area. I epoxied the vertical strips back in place and screwed a ceiling to
them (used cedar strips for the smell) stained and oiled to match
cabinetry! Very salty improvement!

I applied three coats of Tremclad white high gloss (canadian equivalent to
Rustoleum I think), used a bit more than 2 gallons. That includes behind
the pegboard, which I removed and tossed, and in all lockers above the
waterline. I did not sand much but scraped off all peeling paints and
really washed and scrubed the interior before painting with a potion of
TSP, Mr. Clean and chlorine, wear gloves! Use good paint brushes and a 4
inch roller and slather it on thick and go back to clean up drips.
It is holding up very well after three years, easy to clean and makes for a
bright and shiny interior. Have fun and yoga really helps for the
contorsions you are about to engage in!

Folks,
Took a look at Practical Sailor to see which paints they recommend for
painting the overhead, interior of the lockers, etc. No joy. Didn't find
a single article about interior paints. Deck paints, topside paints,
bottom paints, bilge paints are all covered, but not interior paints.
No doubt that this has been discussed before, wondering what folks are
using now. What have folks used and decided not to use again.
The motivating item here is that I removed the Masonite(?) pegboard in the
v-berth which is used to cover the hull on port and starboard from the top
of the v-berth to the underside of the deck. Behind the v-berth is a
"lovely yellowish" color. The wife will NOT be happy with that. The
pegboard one each side of the v-berth was screwed to five shaped teak
strips oriented vertically. Nearly all the teak strips were loose. Now
they are all loose and have been labeled for reinstallation. The teak
strips were attached to the hull with three very generous globs of
fiberglass resin(?) each. The globs are so thick that there was a clear
gap between the teak strips and the hull. Need to reattach these strips
and paint the sides of the hull and the overhead before attaching a ceiling
to the strips.
