[Public-List] Introduction and Standing Rigging

Gerard,
this spring I re-rigged my boat.
I used 1/4" wire for everything (oversize lower shrouds) and sta-locks (I
did not use sealant). purchased everything from riggingonly.
I used 160 ft of wire total.

on my boat (#414) the upper terminal of the lower shrouds are eyes, fitting
between double tangs on the mast/spreaders.
I think you list forks for these in your list?
also on my boat all the pins on the mast were 1/2"

I added a toggle on the upper and lower terminals of the forestay, so as
not to have any lateral loads when the headsail pushes the stay sideways.
The 1/2" toggle was a tight fit in the masthead and required use of a file.

For the upper terminals of the upper shrouds I used toggle forks, normal
forks would probably work here too.

I did mine with the mast up, using halyards as temporary forestay/backstay.
the mast will stay up with all lowers OR upper shrouds detached.
Since you are taking the mast down I would recommend also taking a look at
the chainplates and chaniplate bolts.

Good luck with your project

Hernan
