To the best of my knowledge the original sea water intakes for the engine,
galley and head were 1/2" valves.
If you have 3/4", then they must have been replaced at some point in the
boat's history.  Worthwhile to check
all three.  This winter, my first winter with Constance, I was trying to
remove a sanitation hose from the sea water
head intake.  Didn't know to heat the hose with hot water or a hair
dryer....just pulled, pulled harder, and then
pulled the "thruhull" right out of the boat!  The "thruhull" was a piece of
1/2" pipe with a larger washer on the outside
of the boat.  Pulled the pipe out of the washer.  Very distrubing...had
made no preparations whatsoever for dealing
with the value coming loose.  Thank God the boat was on the hard.  Very
different from you case, in which you are
preparing for any and all water.

Best to get any 1/2" original values out of the boat as soon as possible.
