Heck, I'd jump in and stuff a wooden plug or waxy rag, or something in the
hole from the outside and give it a go while on the water. I like to avoid
yard fees at "nearly" all costs.

Any locations nearby with a 4 foot low tide?  Either way, I'd deal with it
asap.
