Thank you all. Good to hear that horizontal mounting is an option that
works well for a number of folks in the community. Its always a bit of an
"event" to take a hole saw, particularly a large hole saw, to the boat.
Good to be able to check this with folks before hand.
Tim, regarding a replacement. You might consider either going cheaper, as
in molded plastic (Whale Titan about $150 at Defender) or expensive, as in
bronze casting. The aluminum ones seem to rot too easily given the
dissolved minerals in the water. The Whale Gusher 10 being an example of
mid-priced aluminum. Unfortunately, even the ~$500 double-action 30GPM
Whale Gusher 30 is aluminum. One could wash the pump with fresh water
after every use, but that might be a resolution observed more in the breach
that in the fulfillment.
