[Public-List] Winch Pedestal on Cabin Top?

That pad is for an optional main sheet winch...  Some boats had the main
sheet tail run along the boom to the mast, round a turning block to another
similar block and so aft to the cockpit.  It was a way of getting the main
sheet crew forward in the cockpit.

I find it's a convenient place to put my coffee cup when sticking my head
out the companionway when at quiet anchorages...
