Anders:
For fairing, the best advice I was given was to have a scaffold at a
height that you could get your eye down to the deck and have it so it
completely surrounded the hull. That way , one can walk around the hull and
approach things from at least two angles. It worked really well for the
finish on my boat. It is a bit late to caution you , but the first idea is
to never put more epoxy on than is necessary and it helps if two people are
involved in the process, one mixing, and the other laying thing up. West has
a good fairing additive for their epoxy, it is tan microballoons, and I
cannot remember the number, but it is soft and really gives an easy finish.
However, once fair, one needs to add at least one layer of cloth and I used
another two coats of clear epoxy to make sure things were hard for covering
the fairing. Epoxy is not UV stable so it needs to be painted or covered.
Interlux deck paint - (grey) is really easy on the eyes on the water (there
is just no reflection) and the cost is not out of this world. Two liters is
enough to cover the deck and cockpit sole twice. It is non-slip. When things
look a bit worn, just repaint!

of the deck rebuild - now the fairing will be interesting as the extent
of the repairs do not allow many reference surfaces from which to gauge
the gradual smooth lines.
