[Public-List] cabin sole finish

Gordon,

I had the same issue on old # 11.  In researching the issue, I found that
opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one.

I have used oil in the past because I was worried a polyurethane would be
slippery.  The oil looked great for a very short time and then the sole
looked filthy.

This time, I used an orbital sander, sanded the sole down and applied a
semi-gloss spar urethane.  I just did this last week, so I don't have an
extensive time frame to report my results.  However, it looks great.   I
spilled some water on it and walked on it.  It doesn't appear to be too
slippery.  In researching, there were suggestions for  throwing ground
walnut shells in the final coat or the beads, as Gord suggested.  If my
 sole proves slippery when the boat is heeled and wet, I will go back and
add this with another coat.  For now, it appears fine and I really like the
look.
