[Public-List] Opening Ports

Thanks Michael… Wes, I believe Spartan Marine will sell direct so you can go to them rather than through a distributor.

But… bronze ports are pretty much indestructible, so it’s worth just looking at getting new neoprene and that usually resolves any leaking issues. Quality gear is not cheap, but the benefit is that it lasts, and can be rebuilt or repaired rather than thrown away after a few years.

We make jokes in our end of the marine business (traditional bronze and galv iron… when people ask me what I do I say “if you want stuff that’s heavy and obsolete, call me…”) that the main problem we face is that bronze fittings last for centuries… once its fitted to a yacht or ship, it’s for the life of that vessel and the next four or five after her…

    Wes,
Your ports have been replaced with larger ones. Yours look to be from Spartan Marine. They are still in business and will service your needs. Be certain to be sitting down when they quote you the cost. The original Alberg small Aluminum front ports were available as fix light or opening.

I believe that Gord Laco knows the Mfg. who is also still in business. Again, be sitting down.........................

    Hi All,

Am I crazy or were there opening ports as an option? And the next question
is can I get replacements gaskets...one is leaking and of course it's over
    my bunk :-)

The one to port (right side of the pic) is the leaky one, it also has a
broken hinge and may not tighten down correctly.
