Stephen,
If I were doing it today, I'd make a couple adjustments.
1. The connection from the head to the tank (shown in
http://www.alberg30.org/maintenance/Head/RaritanNewer/PvcU-thumb.jpg)
should have a at least 1/4" per foot slope. I end up having to pump
extra water to clear the pipe. Don't make it too steep, though, or the
liquids rush off and leave the solids behind.
2. The outlet connection going to the macerator and deck pumpout (shown
in http://www.alberg30.org/maintenance/Head/RaritanNewer/PvcY-thumb.jpg)
allows solids to build up on the lip of the pipe going to the macerator.
I would now put the curved part of the Y going toward the macerator.
This would mean that another 90 would be needed below it. Again, it
would be good to ensure 1/4" per foot slope back to the tank so nothing
builds up in the pipe.
That page was last edited in 2008, so I've been using this a long time.
I've almost never used the macerator, though, and have had to clean hard
chunks out of it a couple times to get it to spin.
