 Subject: [Public-List] Where is Mandeville

For Jay who asked: Mandeville is almost directly north of Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, 24 miles via the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. It is a beautiful small town directly on the north shore of the Lake with a welcoming public quay for transient boaters, a beautiful Bayou Castine, excellent marinas, great Restuarant's easy walking distance from the public quay, a nice yacht club, incredible birding; a very bicycle and pedestrian friendly community. Lake Pontchartrain is a boating paradise, currently it is 67 degrees with winds from the south at 12 - 15 knots. The Lake has a consistent depth of 10 - 12 feet with very few opportunities for running aground and no tides worth worrying about and there is easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and the ICW and the world beyond.
