   Well, whether or not these were original, they certainly were old. 
Thanks for the advice. After trying several riggers, sailmakers and 
canvas shops I found one that, scrounging in the bottom of drawers, came 
up with 20 orange clips, not exactly like the originals but 
interchangeable with them. Solved the problem
