Yes... so long as the very tight wraps resulting from furling in heavy air are relieved once the yacht is in quieter conditions.

So - can I extrapolate from this that kinder than flaking or stuffing would be rolling it up on the foil because there would be no creasing ? (Assuming a good sunshade edge, of course )

    Hello Michael –

In my wooden boat days, I used to punish my genoa for a bad race by stuffing it, and reward it for a good race by folding it...

I’ve heard the folding vs stuffing debate too, and reckon the stuffing-may-be-better theory is debunked... folding generally considered by the industry as better for sail longevity.

There is an argument that flaking, folding and rolling a sail after
every use is more harmful to it than just stuffing in the sailbag, the
same crease more or less being constantly used.
I compromise, stuffing during the season, and folding for winter
        storage.
Also, I seem to recall the max dimension #1 Genoa for the Alberg works
out to 163%. I had a #2 made with full luff and raised clew that worked
out to 150%. It has become my go to cruising sail (I have a working jib
for when things get really funky). The decksweeping feature of the #1
must be a significant addition to total sail area-I have not calculated.
