Daniel,

I had the same problem on 505. In fact, you'll see this on most liner
boats. The shelves in the forward cabin are secondary struct Ural members.
On the later boats, with liners, they pop riveted the shelves to tabbing
that runs fore and aft. The shelves attached this way do not provide the
support for the forward lowers. What I did was 1 loosen the rig, 2 push the
hull outward using 2x4s and wedges, then fiberglass the shelves in place
with heavy cloth. I also glasses the knees to the underside of the deck.
This was done about 30 years ago and the dimples have never reappeared.
