[Public-List] Rudder blade paintings and coatings

All,

Mo Cuisle (#56) is in need of some rudder repair.  The hardware was replaced by a PO and looks to be in good shape. However, there is a thick coating of coarse FG cloth and resin on the blade that is cracked and peeling.  The rudder seems to be undamaged.  I’m in the process of scraping and sanding the old coating/finish, but I need advice as to how the rudder should be refinished.  Should I put up a layer of FB cloth and epoxy, coat with barrier paint, and then anti fouling?  Is the FB and resin necessary?

Any advice appreciated.
