[Public-List] Overnight Anchoring on the Magothy North of Gibson Island

Thank you all for the information, recommendations, and the warnings that
it might be crowded.

Given the heat, humidity, the probability of mid-morning thunderstorms
tomorrow, and
the probability of folks bridging the Fourth of July to the weekend and
crowding
the anchorage, my wife and I decided to settle for a day sail.

Overnight deferred to next week.

We did see dophins on the Bay!   Our first sighting of these lovely animals
in the wild.

Several firsts today including:
* first coffee made on Constance using a Bella Tavola propane stove and 1lb
propane canisters.   Very important exercise to see the effect of waves and
wakes on a pot, as well as how to position items in the sink for pouring
boiling water into.  Now, I have to find a way to provide a basket that is
secured to a surface, so that several items can be out at once, not in the
sink, and constrained from moving around.
* first nap aboard for my wife--heat, humidity, etc. led to a bit of a lie
down in the v-berth.  Reported to be quite pleasant with the month old
cedar planking ceiling.
* first time equipping the galley with a variety of cooking and eating
implements.  Now I'll be able to make myself coffee on Constance, whenever
I want.
* first dolphin sighting.
* first instruction to buy another inflatable PDF.  Sleeping in the one we
have now is no bother at all.  One can sleep in it quite comfortably. I've
been told.

We got in a good 12nm sail.   Force 3 throughout.  Very nice upwind.  A bit
hot downwind.
Its a bit tough, when the boat is moving fast enough to cut the windspeed
in half and the
previously refreshing breeze now seems just too light.     Once again
thought about that
second groove in the furler and wished for a second genoa, would be so much
easier, once
set up, compared to running the genoa and main wing on wing.  No concerns
of gybing paired
genoas.  No boom to go boom on my head.

Good time dodging all the race circles and committee boats from the AYC
Annual Junior Regatta.

We managed to start right after the winds filled in after the 10am lull.
Sometimes, you got lucky.  Did I mention the dolphins ;)
