     A better way to retain those bolts would be to thread them on to 
nuts (brass, stainless, bronze or whatever the bolts themselves are made 
of) and bed those nuts as deeply as you can in epoxy. the epoxy will 
hold the larger cross-section nuts better than the narrower bolts. You 
might even use large washers or something else to hold in the nuts.
