[Public-List] shaft coupling parts in bildge

I agree with Mike. It is a flexible coupling. If the boat is on the hard put a pipe wrench on the coupling inside and then try to turn the prop from the outside. Try appling pressue on and off to see if the connection is solid or questionable. I would not trust this to go very far. If it comes apart underway you loose power to the prop ..........................BUT WORSE THE SPINNING PROP CAN JAMB IN THE RUDDER = NO STEARAGE OR WORSE YET THE PROP JAMBS INTO THE RUDDER AND BREAKS OFF THE CUTTLESS BEARING HOUSING AND SINKS THE BOAT.
My advice get this replaced before splashing in and motoring anywhere. While you are there clean up and lube the gland nut on the stuffing box to make certain you can adj and prevent too much water from entering thru the stuffing box before you splash in.
Very best of luck, be safe. None of these repairs are very costly or difficult. Great photos really helped.
