[Public-List] Shaft Seal / Stuffing box

Recently an Alberg 30 had to have the stern tube replaced. To solve the
problem of dissimilar sizes between the stern tube and the stuffing box, a
machine shop (Kastel Brothers in St. Michael's MD) was employed to
fabricated the new stern tube. They took the standard size tubing and
brazed a bronze thru hull fitting to the inboard end, then turned the thru
hull on a lathe to match the diameter of the stuffing box. It was an
elegant job and solved the problem of the stuffing box hose fitting
properly to each end. I have picture if anyone wants to see them.
