[Public-List] LED Bulbs

Not to hijack the thread but I have a related question... I have a dehumidifier (Eva-Dry 2200) with a 12V cigarette lighter cord. Can I cut off the cigarette lighter part and splice that directly into the 12V system, or does it need some kind of adapter? So far I'm running it off the regular cord + inverter but direct from 12V would be better if possible.

As far as the bulb, are the main "marine" concerns here electrical or just that it might not be able to be exposed to water? I imagine any LED bulb should put out much less heat than the standard one of the same size and use less power so it shouldn't be a fire hazard in the same fixture. But don't take my word for it I don't understand electricity!
