[Public-List] Whisker pole

Good afternoon,
After sailing my A30 on daysails and short 2-3 day cruising trips for just over a year now, I am contemplating adding a whisker pole for wing to wing downwind sailing. I sail with a 150% genoa most of the time. Obviously the market belongs to Forespar. My previous experience with the telescoping types is that they are inherently weak and the twist lock mechanism can become corroded and at times not hold well. I looked at their line control whisker poles but have a hard time spending $1000 for them. The other day, I happened to encounter a Canadian made whisker pole that although telescopic, does not have the twist mechanism, rather it uses a pin to lock it in place. Has anyone purchased one of these to let me know how they  fare?
