[Public-List] Bow chocks

Mine in 426 succumbed to an impact driver.

I removed them in order to reposition them closer to the edge of the bow casting.

SURPRISE came out of the water this afternoon and so ends the 2019 sailing season. We never got away this year for a cruise, but we did have many weekends up the coast and that’s nothing to sneeze at. And the old girl did win herself another flag, third place in the August series. Not bad, not bad.

Well the weather today was quite miserable… wind and cold both in plenty. We needed to get a pump out before hauling (yes, I forgot to do that once) and maneuvering around the rickety pump out dock was a bit of a thrill but it all worked out. Our boats are exceptionally well behaved under power and I was able to spin her in her length in the channel as usual. I should add that not having the genny on the furled helped tremendously by virtue of it’s windage being eliminated.

That’s all done now… SURPRISE is snug in her cradle. Soon her canvass tarp, called ’The Shroud of Turin’ because it still has Touch Wood’s imprint worn into it, will be over her so she can sleep till spring.

Here’s to spring!
