[Public-List] Wooden spreaders

I don't have much personal experience, but did read a couple of books by
Lin and Larry Pardy recently. They sailed a wooden boat internationally for
many years and seem very experienced.  Their recommendation for wooden
spreaders was to cover the top of the spreaders with a thin copper
flashing.  This would protect the wood from both UV damage and pooled
water.

Aluminum is of course pretty maintenance free, but wood does add alot of
character.
