[Public-List] Thanks for the insurance comments; selling the boat

Hello, Everyone,

Many thanks for the comments about insurance for the "good old boat." I've
passed them onto my prospective buyer. When he contacted my present
company, Boat US/Geico, they turned him down because the boat was too old
(1967). He's since found some other small companies that will provide
coverage subject to an inspection. (A haul-out for this purpose is coming
next Wednesday.)

Alberg owners' experiences are contradictory in some cases: one company
with regard to two different boats would or would not insure them.

FYI--I've posted 3 craigslist ads for the boat in Seattle, Bellingham, and
the Olympic Peninsula. Although this isn't the best time of year for
selling, I've had 22 replies, including about 5 serious inquiries and/or
phone calls. Two people have actually seen the boat, for which my revised
and most current asking price is $8000. (I bought it in 2000 in Astoria,
OR, for $17,000.) A bunch of people knew of the Alberg sailboats and seemed
drawn by the reputation. (See the ad at

Thanks again,
Randy Katz
