[Public-List] Painting

Hi Mike -
So-called ‘rust paint’ is actually lower grade enamel. Its characteristics are that it is rather thicker than other paints, so it covers well and hides blemishes… is elastic so if there are stress cracks, it’ll not only fill them but move somewhat, thereby preventing them breaking the coating. It sticks to anything, provided the surface is clean and perhaps lightly sanded.
Inside the boat where it’s not exposed to UV and not exposed to being scuffed much (provided you keep your boat generally upright, so you’re not walking on the deckhead)… it’s good paint.
Being solvent based, it’ll be generally more durable paint than a latex.
