Why not use the purpose-built main halyard sheave?

It has a nice large radius, is immensely strong, has a fair lead both up and down

One block now carries the main halyard and the other carries a second “halyard” attached to the aft end of my boom as a topping lift and cleated on the mast similar to the main halyard. I use this possibly “unique” system (it works for me) so I can raise the aft end of the boom quickly when reefing my mainsail, it makes it easier to pull in the leach reefing line, and I reef early and often.

You would have to provide me with wind tunnel data to convince me that at 6.5 or even 7 knots of speed the difference between internal and external halyards has any valuable significance on my 47 year old boat anyway.
