Isobar #181 had piano hinges, too. I don't know if they were original bit they certainly were common. When I rebuilt the seat tops I took great pains to reuse those piano hinges.

Subject: [Public-List] Hinge type for cockpit lockers on pre-liner A30 # 319
Greetings.
My A30 #319 has piano hinges for the port and starboard cockpit seat locker lids.
I have made a pair of lids from marine ply sheathed in teak strips and am considering using pairs of SS316 hinges (for example offset hinges like https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-A4-316-Offset-Hinge-Marine-Sailing-Door-Locker-Freepost-/261821158064 ; or non-offset hinges of similar type) instead of piano hinges. I have found piano hinges rather tedious to install with any precision, e.g., with respect to compressing a compressible gasket material to a target degree for improving sealing.
Has anyone used hinges other than piano hinges?
Suggestions, experience and comments on selection and seaworthiness would be helpful.
Cheers,
David
