I certainly am looking at electric propulsion. It's more a
question of when. Fossil fuels are on their way out.  But I would
argue that the time for conversion isn't quite yet. The prices
are currently high, but they're plummeting.  Capacity is
growing. Today, it only takes a dozen cell phone batteries to
equal one group 27 lead-acid battery. Last year it would 20-30 of
them.  Today they aren't cheap, but their half the price they
were a few years back. The enormous pressure from phone
manufacturers for smaller/cheaper/longer life batteries is
driving a lot of development.  Same with electric cars.

I don't know why anybody would buy a small outboard when a
Minn-Kota is cheaper, lighter and quieter. That shift will come
to bigger inboards. It's just a question of when. I just hope it
happens before my Atomic 4 dies.
