Yes, Practical Sailor did extensive testing on this subject.
Don't waste your money on commercial mildew fighters, they won't do a better job than PS's Formula B. A tablespoon each of baking soda, borax, and tri-sodium phosphate in a quart of warm water. Spray on, let stand then wipe off. Don't rinse afterwards and it will continue to deter the growth of mildew for quite a while. It's not toxic either.
