Marcelo -- I had a custom Bimini designed and built by Canvas Creations in Eastport MD 20 years ago for 295. It's been fantastic. It fully shades the cockpit and does not interfere with the main in either the deployed or stowed configuration. I keep it stowed when I'm not on the boat, so it's still in great shape. If interested I can take some pictures (tell me where to send them).

Good afternoon,
Summer is fast approaching down here in the Deep South and I have decided to pursue buying a Bimini  to avoid simmering in my own juices. My question to the group is whether its worth the extra cost having it custom made or buying one pre-made in stock sizes. Either way, I intend to buy one with a SS frame.

Whether custom or stock be certain to have hand holds arranged in strategic places.  Also concern yourself with winch operation if you have cabin top mounted winches. Nice to have a "window in the roof to view the mast head fly.

The inner frames of the 3 opening ports on my 1969 A30 have corroded to the point where pieces are falling off. I do not want to spend $500 plus each from Newfound Metals or the other manufacturers on new brass portholes if I can avoid it. Would rather find used ones if I can. Does anyone know of any used portholes for sale? Have been combing marine consignment shops to no avail yet.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Where are you located?
I didn?t think opening ports up forward were standard. Can you send dimensions of the openings (or frames) to confirm what size you need?

Hi Folks,What kind of fit is expected between the rudder tube and rudder shaft? Ayla just has a fiberglass tube running up to the cockpit. The new rudder is in but tight and doesn't exit the cockpit centered in the hole.It looks like someone may have add epoxy in side the tube at some point.Regards,Greg

We have had different versions of the PSS style seal installed for the last
35 years with no issues.  The dry bilge is very nice and goes along way to reduce boat odors.

Failures of this kind of seal are extraordinarily rare.
