So you're lower on the totem pole than Sable I, James Bay, North Slope, etc. Wonder why they outshine you? More valuable, or just that they haven't been done in a while. also wonder why they do that far offshore area?

The CHS does re-survey, but not everywhere annually.
They have priorities, which are set by a combination
of factors including, traffic density, grounding frequency,
environmental impact of groundings etc: Here's a map

I sail in a dark blue, low priority area. The charts are based on
surveys from 1992
and earlier. I imagine that within that area, there may be spots like
Vancouver Harbour
and Esquimalt which get more frequent attention.
