[Public-List] Thru hulls etc

We went through the “thru hull” grand adventure back in 2018 when we did our refit of 601. Depending on the amount of available room we used either a seacock or inline ball valve over new mounting blocks and bronze thru hull fittings.

It was both an extremely challenging and very gratifying project.

Funny side story - i installed all except one thru hull by myself. The one that i did with “help” was the only one that leaked when we finally launched after the refit. I saw water coming in and the yard immediately pulled me out and left me on the slings while they took lunch and I scrambled to reinstall before they got back. Let’s just say that after a mad dash to the local chandlery, copious 3M, and a bloody knuckle, the boat has been bone dry ever after. Hourly yard rates are an amazing incentive!
