[Public-List] Waterline

Another member of the Chesapeake Bay Alberg 30 Association and I were
talking about waterlines this spring.
We were wondering if the waterlines on our boats had been raised, lowered
or unmodified.
Don't know.   Did occur to me that I could measure the waterline while the
boat was out of the water and provide
the numbers so that others could compare.

Method:  measure the distance from the port side waterline, under the keel,
to the starboard side waterline in *two locations *using a 25' steel tape
measure.  The tape will follow the curve of the hull for a while then form
a straight line in the air, at an angle from the side of the hull to the
side of the bottom of the keel, follow the shape of the keel from on side
to the other side, and repeat on the second side of the hull.

The two locations are:

   - at the notch formed by the ruddershoe and the trailing edge of the
   hull.  Distance is 145-7/8"
   - 80" forward of the notch (pretty much the forward end of the flat run
   of the underside of the keel).  Distance is 150-1/4"

Can you measure your boat Greg?
