Dan, you need to pre-heat the alcohol burner. On my unit, I open
the value until a little flows into the burner. I then shut the
valve and light the burner. It will burn with a big flame if you
put too much alcohol into the burner. After the flame burns out,
re-open the value and light the burner immediately. The warm burner
vaporized the alcohol and should produce a nice controlled
"burner" flame.<br>

I recommend buying a long stem lighter at any discount type store.<br>
