Peter, If your Westerbeke wiring is similar
to mine you will find there are two wiring
harnesses from the engine to the control panel, both harnesses having multi plugs
and sockets in their lengths close to the engine so that they can easily
disconnected.

To shift the control panel (I have the Admiral)
unplug the harnesses, disconnect the fuel gauge spade terminals at the
tank, remove the panel and refix in the new cutout.Plug the harnesses back
together, slide the spade terminals back on. Job done as far as the electrics
are concerned. The harnesses are already overlong for the run from the
engine to the low cockpit panel position and resiting the panet closer to the
engine just means there is more to coil up and fix out of the way.As the engine
cutout and throttle are not part of the control panel I shall leave
them where they are as cockpit flooding will not cause any problem to
them.

What I would really like is a single lever shift
control incorporating the throttle.Another project for the future.
