Hi Peers... This seams a little low to me. Our boom on #312 is on a slid
bolted to the mast and is adjustable. Our procedure is to hoist the main
to the mast head and then apply the down haul to tension which puts the
head at or near the masthead. I think you should compare the designed luff
length to your actual luff length... not knowing the history of your
main it might be used and not custom to your boat.
