<P>Q. I have noticed that the A30 deck is riveted to the hull except along the jib tracks where it is thru bolted. How does one fix leaks along these areas? Remove the toe rail (sp) or is there another neat way of diverting the water? </P>
<P>A. Short term fix - dig out all of the caulking between the toe-rail and the hull and re-caulk with 4200, 5200 or caulk of choice. Long term fix - remove the toe-rail, clean up the deck/hull joint, replace all of the rivets with SS bolts well sealed in 5200, then replace the toe-rail [I used 5200 mahogony colored]</P>
<P>Q. I have one leak forward of the starboard chain plate area where the water runs down the inside of hull, across the v berth shelf and into the bunk area making the berth Cushing's wet. </P>
<P>A. This needs attention not just because things get wet but because the froward chainplates are important structurally and could rot if not sealed. Caulking the chainplates well at the deck should solve this. Remove all old caulking and you might try Boat Life or Elastomeric for this caulking job.<BR></P>
