<P>Your engine must be 36~37 years old. Running with fresh lake water cooling has exteneded its life considerably. I wouldn't worry about converting it at this stage, it will be fine for another 20 years unless something else fails. Bob Kirk "Isobar" which is older than your boat has been running with salt water cooling since forever, and is still fine. Bankroll the money for a future replacement engine [I might avoid the stock market for the moment]<BR></P></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>Subject: [Alberg30] Atomic 4 fresh water conversion
<DIV></DIV>Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2002 11:02:07 EDT
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>My lovely A-30, Terpsichore is and has been in Lake Michigan for ever. The
<DIV></DIV>Atomic 4 is rigged to cool directly from the lake water.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>I plan on moving back to my home waters of Buzzards Bay. Does anyone know
<DIV></DIV>how big a deal it will be to convert the cooling system? Is this the time to
<DIV></DIV>replace the engine which is finally purring like a kitten?

Cruising the Chesapeake: A Gunkholer's Guide
My favorite Chesapeake Bay guidebook. While it mentions marinas,
it concentrates on anchorages--the kind of places I prefer to spend
my time. And in addition to listing shore facilities, it rates each
location for Beauty/Interest and Protection. This is the guide you
need to really cruise the Chesapeake Bay--a smorgasbord of small
creeks and coves.
