<P>Sheet metal screws are not real good fastners for this. Instead I would drill and tap and replace them with SS machine screws with lok-tite or RTV sealant when installing them. The screws to the mast step into the deck plate should be hex bolts not round head screws. The standard was 9/16" head. Soak them for days, every day. I prefer T9 Boeshield over WD40. Then use an impact tool to try to break them loose. You may still break them, which means drilling out the screw and tre-tapping the hole. This is best done on drill press with the deck plate off the boat. Whatever you do, do not attempt an ez-out on a broken screw. Hopefully you won't break any. When you install the new ones, be sure to coat the threads with RTV to prevent them from siezing with the aluminium. T9 is available at most marine centers, a hand impact tool is available at Sears.</P></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>Thanks to this Forum, I checked the gooseneck on #303 Emotional Rescue. There
<DIV></DIV>was no galvanic corrosion on the S.S. screws but these stainless steel
<DIV></DIV>sheetmetal scvrews were so loose that I backed them out by my fingers. One
<DIV></DIV>was missing. I replaced them all and added red Lok-Tite to keep them in.

<DIV></DIV>I also discovered that 3 of the 4 stainless steel round-headed bolts holding
<DIV></DIV>the mast step to the deck plate are frozen in their threads. Page A-3 in the
<DIV></DIV>manual doesn't suggest how to get them out. I will try heat and WD40 (not
