[Public-list] Ice in the Bilge

Something similar happened to me several years ago. No damage was done to the boat, probably because the bilge wall angle tends to channel expansion up, rather than out.
I put an electric heater in the boat for two weeks, which melted the ice. I'm not sure that is a good idea, however, because of the risk of a heater malfunction.
 
I believe the best answer to avoid the problem in the future is to install a bilge drain plug, which is removed each Winter & taped to your ignition key as a reminder to re-install in the Spring.
