To Jackie

I have considerable experience sailing on both types of yacht. The
angle of heel on an Alberg is about the same as the C&C 25. The Alberg
has a great advantage because of the large mainsail and, with it, the
ability to ease the sheet in strong winds or gusts which controls the
heel angle. Coupled with the longer waterline length, full keel and
heavier displacement, the boat is an excellent performer in windy
conditions.

My children love to dangle their feet in the water when we are sailing
on Lake Ontario and the mainsheet is even useful for that when the wind
is lighter. I can induce a greater angle to permit their short legs to
make it into the water at the back where the gunwale height is less.
(They are also closer to the skipper who can remind them to keep a
stanchion between their legs and the lifeline buckled onto their life
jackets). In any event, if the angle of heel is a worry for you. Stop
worrying.
