I guess there's no perfect solution from every point of view. Maybe one could
cut a hatch first into the cockpit sole and then install the pedestal into the
hatch (with some kind of quick dissconnect on the steering cables to the
rudder) so that, when necessary, one could remove the whole thing and at the
same time create intant open access to the engine.
