I agree,  the name on Friendship was put on with blue boot-top paint over 
white Awlgrip  I have removed it and put it back on without a problem.  Just 
use a fine compound.  You may find that you have shadow of the old name if it 
has been on for a long time.  The compound will help remove some of this but 
not all.  Good luck
