Dan-
	If the number is just sewn on, just carefully cut the stitches with
a "seam ripper" available in any sewing or fabric store.  If, as is more
likely the case, it is stuck on with an adhesive it will have to be
carefully peeled off.  Sailrite has several products in their catalog for
removing the adhesive residue.  They may also be able to tell you the best
