Thanks Dan and Gordon,

I got the number for Bomar and called them today to inquire further
and was advised that the hatches like the one I had (also mentioned in
Lee's earlier post) were not really suited for a cockpit floor application.
(no surprises here !) but that I could find what I wanted in a "Hamilton
Marine" catalogue which I happened to have.

These hatches which were cast aluminum were used primarily on work
boats. She told me these were very water tight and durable. Flush mounting
with non-skid surface. Also available in "white finish" The closest I would
be able to get to fit my 10 x 14" opening would be a cut out of
15 x 17" bigger than I had hoped but If something I may be able to live
with.

I am going to have to make a trip to the boat and check and do some
visualizing before I bite the bullet. The O.D. would be 18 x 20 and I am
wondering what that might look like in the cockpit floor. It would be in
the forward portion. I am pretty sure Gordon will not think this is too
large. And I am sure I would enjoy the additional convenience.

Anyone like to either encourage or discourage me on this decision. If
you have a 1998 HM catalogue they are on page 121. Oh .... and yes they
are expensive $318.00 ( $348.00 for the white)
