Lee,

Calliope's gallows is pretty far forward. If you look carefully at the
picture
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/8005/denizens/calliope.jpg you'll see
that
the boom lies on the gallows about 2 feet + from the end of the boom. Never
a problem with fouling the mainsheet.

However, if you are thinking of somehow incorporating this into a bimini,
its awkward, because it is so far forward. I thought about adding a bimini
for the Chesapeake Bay summers, but just went to an awning set up.

	Hi Greg,
In this book I'm reading, about the Vertue 35, there is a diagram
for the
gallows placement. The Vertue's main is roller furling, so the
mainsheet is
attached to a rolling bale at the very end of the boom, like ours.
The
gallows appears to be fitted about one foot or so forward of the end
of the
boom. Can't see how it WOULD'NT catch the mainsheet on a tack or a
jibe.
Let's hear from people who have them, please.

Second Question: Has anyone replaced the aluminum frames and
doghouse windows
with 1/2 " or heavier Lexan, the Lexan overlapping the window hole,
and
bolting the Lexan to the cabin side? All in an effort to get a
stronger
doghouse window for offshore work, of course.
	Thanks friends,
	Lee Trachtenberg
