Tom,

If I'm visualizing what you're saying correctly, it's a "prop nut" style
zinc that you're looking for.  Try your handy, dandy West Marine Catalog,
page 207 of the '99 edition. For a 7/8" shaft, you want a size 'B'  Prop Nut
Zinc.  Part #132573 (list $28.99) includes the nut and anode; Part #132649
(list $7.89) is just the zinc anode portion.  I believe you will also need a
1-inch long, 1/4'-20 machine screw with a lock washer to fix the anode to
the nut.  Don't worry too much about the blank stares...if the West Marines
back there are anything like here, most of the help is a bit shy on
experience (& I'm being kind).  Good Luck.
