Jim,
    My boat had a barrier coat on it when I bought it. Blisters have
developed in it - which worried me until I realized they were not in the
original gelcoat - and patches have chipped off. I doubt it is doing
anything now but make the bottom less smooth than I want. Hard to get it
all off. Puzzling....
